Thu, Apr 3 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Join Deep Listening® facilitators, Katie Down and Jane Rigler for this immersive, inclusive and fun 8-week series that offers specific Deep Listening® methods and practices cultivated by their mentor and friend, Pauline Oliveros.
Jane and Katie have been offering Deep Listening® workshops and experiences for over 2 decades and are excited to be collaborating to bring a sense of creative play, connection to the self, each other, and the world, opening awareness to enhance individual and community well-being that includes mindful listening, gentle movement, voicework, song, breath, silence, stillness, contemplative practices and more. Deep Listening® has helped people with emotion regulation, stress management, cultivating community, reducing anxiety, and enhancing the mind-body connection. Each week, the facilitators will invite in different approaches and playful engagement in Deep Listening® that include techniques drawn from Qigong, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Embodied Voicework, and improvisation. All are welcome and encouraged to enter with an open heart and mind in this judgment-free and playful space of listening. You can sign up for all 8 classes or just drop in when you want! We are keeping this affordable and accessible. It is a sliding scale of $15-30 and if you sign up for all 8 classes the exchange is $10/class. We look forward to welcoming you into the heart of listening.
1. What is Deep Listening?
“The key to multi-level existence is Deep Listening – listening in as many ways as possible to everything that can possibly be heard all of the time. Deep Listening is exploring the relationships among any and all sounds whether natural or technological, intended or unintended, real, remembered or imaginary. Thought is included. Deep Listening includes all sounds expanding the boundaries of perception.” – from Center for Deep Listening
2. Do I have to have any meditation or music experience?
No, just curiosity and willingness
3. What kinds of clothes should I wear?
Loose fitting and comfortable
4. Will there be music played?
On occasion, yes and we will have instruments to use as well at times.
